FAQs
Is everything we discuss confidential?
Confidentiality is essential in a therapeutic relationship. Professionally and ethically I would always honor your confidences with the exceptions required by law. (These exceptions will be explained prior to our session.)
How long will it take before things are better?
Each individual’s situation is different, and success depends upon many things. You will have lots of opportunity to contribute to your outcome by setting goals and striving toward these in session and out of session.
Can I bring others to the sessions?
It may be potentially beneficial at some point to loop in another, but your sessions will be about your progress and you will want to focus your energy on the areas you can influence…you!
Is it a sign of weakness to ask for help with my problems?
On the contrary! It is a sign of strength to seek support when we realize a situation has become too heavy to carry alone.
How do I know if I will benefit from counseling help?
If you are even considering reaching out for therapy you recognize something isn’t quite right. Most people can benefit at some point in their life from a objective professional to help clarify some things which are too hazy to see on their own. While many have benefitted from the support they’ve received in counseling and are glad they followed their gut, you will only know for sure if you give it a try.
